Betsy is the author of The Dinner Diaries: Raising Whole Wheat Kids in a White Bread World (Algonquin, 2008).  Her book received a starred review from Publishers Weekly, it was Family Circle's Book Pick of the Month, the Progressive Book Club's Staff Pick, and it was featured in Everyday with Rachael Ray, The Boston Globe and Washington Post. She has given many talks and interviews about her book regionally and nationally, both in person and on radio.

Additionally, Betsy has written food features, profiles, health articles, restaurant reviews, travel pieces, essays, and lifestyle stories for NPR, Wondertime, Cookie, Entrepreneur, Natural Health, Epicurious.com, The Boston Globe, Boston magazine, and the online city guides Sidewalk and CitySearch. She has been called "one of my favorite Boston writers," "hilarious," "talented," "smart," "edgy," and "fun," not to mention, "laugh out loud funny" by editors from (the now-deceased) Gourmet, Washington Post, Boston Globe and NPR.

She graduated with honors from Brown University in 1988 and received her master's degree from The Fletcher School at Tufts in August, 2014. She lives near Boston with her family.
